Maximalism without the mess

Maximalism is full on purpose. It is not a room that missed a cleanup. The difference is a repeated color and a place for each object.
Pick a deep ground, such as plum walls, then a mustard sofa and a rug that already contains those colors. A gallery wall can hold many frames if the art is abstract and has no readable words. Teal and yellow can return in the art or a cushion so the eye finds the same colors twice.
Eclectic is the lighter cousin: warm beige walls, fewer objects, teal velvet, and one coral accent. If your room has more empty wall than framed wall, you are closer to Eclectic than Maximalist.
The mess test is the floor and the table. A maximalist room can have many objects and still show the rug edge and one clear path. If you cannot find the table, edit, do not add.
