Cottagecore in a city flat works when you edit it down to cloth, wood, and one jug of stems. A whole cottage kit will crowd a small room.
Start with cream walls and a worn wood floor if you have it. One sofa in a soft floral, a crocheted throw, and a simple wood coffee table are the set. A botanical print and a lace-trimmed shade are the details. Garden green is the accent, used once.
Skip chalkboard signs, stacks of fake bread, and furniture with heavy carving. That last one is Traditional, which wants wainscoting and a gilt frame. Cottagecore wants sun and cloth, not a formal dining room.
In a rental, you can still get the style: a loose cover, a secondhand wood table, linen curtains, and flowers you replace. Paint is optional. Clutter is what makes a small cottage room fail.
